Stoner Molding Solutions Launches A New Water-based Composite Mold Release

Quarryville, PA (February 2017) - Stoner Molding Solutions announces the development of Honey Wax Hydro Speed, a water-based mold release that is non-flammable and non-hazardous. This hi-solids product eliminates the need to continually re-saturate an applicator with traditional paste waxes which will save composites molders time, while the water carrier evaporates in 30-60 seconds even at low ambient temperatures.

Honey Wax Hydro Speed is the first product of its kind that completely eliminates solvents while maintaining the performance composites molders expect from paste waxes. Removal of the product has also been made easier. Since Honey Wax Hydro Speed is a water-based product, it applies in a much lighter, thinner film.

“In field tests we have seen up to a 50% time savings over paste waxes,” states Win Doolittle, Stoner Molding Global Product Manager. “Mold operators can completely saturate their applicator and coat a much larger area before stopping. In addition to the application speed, Honey Wax Hydro Speed requires significantly less effort to buff after drying, and the marine industry loves the fact that pin striping tapes easily stick to the newly coated mold.”

Honey Wax Hydro Speed is available in a 16 oz squeeze bottle. No mold preparation is required to test, use, or switch and, since Honey Wax Hydro Speed is water-based, it has no hazard classification, which allows it to be shipped faster and at less cost.
